Contractual Engagement
By delivering a vehicle to American V8 Centre T/A AV8 Automotive & Fleet Services (referred to as "AV8", "the Workshop", "we", or "us"), booking an intake appointment, authorising a repair quotation, or entering into a commercial Fleet Service Level Agreement (SLA), the Customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions in full.
These terms comply with the South African Consumer Protection Act, No. 68 of 2008 (CPA), the South African Automotive Industry Code of Conduct overseen by the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa (MIOSA), the National Road Traffic Act, and standard South African automotive industry practices.
Quotations, Estimates & Additional Work
Pre-Authorisation: No non-routine mechanical work exceeding the initial diagnostic booking will proceed without express verbal, written, or electronic (WhatsApp/email) consent from the vehicle owner or authorised fleet controller.
Quotation Validity: All written repair estimates remain valid for thirty (30) calendar days from date of issue, subject to supplier parts price fluctuations and currency exchange rates on imported components.
Teardown & Inspection Fees: Where comprehensive engine disassembly or transmission teardown is required to diagnose internal mechanical faults, standard diagnostic labour fees apply regardless of whether the customer elects to proceed with the overhaul.
Road Testing & Diagnostic Driving
By handing over the vehicle keys, the Customer expressly authorises AV8 technicians and certified mechanics to operate the vehicle on public roads and highways (including the R21 expressway and Stanley Road arterial routes) strictly for diagnostic, telemetry verification, and post-repair quality assurance road testing.
All AV8 drivers possess valid South African professional driver licences (PrDP where applicable for heavy commercial vehicles).
Workshop Lien & Right of Retention
In accordance with South African common law, AV8 holds a legal possessory lien (right of retention / retensiereg) over any vehicle, components, keys, and accessories in its possession until all invoices for parts, labour, storage, and associated repair services have been paid in full via cleared funds (EFT, credit card, or insurance disbursement).
Vehicles will not be released under any circumstances without full payment or approved credit terms agreed under a signed corporate Fleet SLA.
Warranties & Parts Guarantees
Workmanship: AV8 guarantees our mechanical workmanship for a period of six (6) months or 10,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first) from the date of vehicle collection.
Replacement Parts: OEM and aftermarket replacement parts carry the respective manufacturer's statutory warranty under CPA Section 56.
Warranty Exclusions: Warranties are null and void in instances of track racing, competition motorsport abuse, customer-directed overheating, lack of recommended lubricants, unauthorised third-party tampering, or failure to perform scheduled run-in oil changes.
Vehicle Collection & Storage Fees
Customers are notified via phone/WhatsApp/email immediately upon completion of authorised repair work. Vehicles must be collected within forty-eight (48) hours of notification unless prior storage arrangements have been agreed.
Vehicles remaining on workshop premises beyond five (5) working days without authorisation may be subject to a secure storage fee of R250.00 + VAT per calendar day.
