AV8 was founded in Brentwood Park, East Rand in 2005 by veteran automotive specialist and engine builder Andre de Beer. Born out of decades of competitive motorsport and custom V8 building, the workshop initially gained an enviable reputation as Gauteng’s go-to destination for period-correct AC Cobras, vintage muscle cars, and bespoke Ford and Chevy performance powerplants.
Building an engine that survives sustained high-RPM race conditions requires an unforgiving standard of mechanical discipline: balancing crankshafts to gram-fractions, dialling in valvetrain geometry, and blueprinting clearances to the micron.
Today, AV8 applies that exact same engineering standard to the commercial fleet sector. Corporate logistics bakkies, commercial haulers, and private family motorists benefit from the same racing-calibre diagnostics, precision machining, and turnaround discipline.

Twin bespoke AC Cobra roadsters engineered with high-displacement V8 powerplants.

Aerodynamic and high-displacement V8 endurance setup.

Forced-induction supercharged V8 calibration, carbon intake & custom cooling.

Dynamic crankshaft balancing & micron-tolerance clearances.

High-displacement Ford Racing 427 V8 with MSD ignition & cooling telemetry.

Full bare-metal chassis build & suspension calibration.
From digital cylinder bore dial indicators to laser wheel alignment, every mechanical tolerance is measured and documented.
Mechanical machining, auto-electrical diagnostics, chassis straightening, and oven spray baking all occur under our East Rand roof.
We understand downtime costs money. Corporate fleets receive priority vehicle bays, guaranteed turnaround windows, and digital reports.
We conduct cylinder leak-down tests, oscilloscope trace analysis, and computerised colour scans before touching a tool.
